More design focus

I’ve been trying to come up with new ideas how to improve the design on my blog for a while. It’s hard, I like it as it is, and there is also a step to take to learn new ways to design things. I can’t just get an idea and then learn to build it, I need to base an idea on how you build it :)

TkJ recently wrote about a plugin called TTFTitles, which transforms your blog titles to images. This way, you can use fonts and special designs that a certain OS/browser wouldn’t normally be able to show. I thought it was really interesting, but I don’t know if it’s a good idea or not, it might result in a weird design, since I design mainly with Firefox/Vista in mind (aka myself) and others view both fonts and font sizes differently.

Ubuntu Eee

I’m writing this post from my Eee, on Ubuntu this time. I really didn’t like the original OS, Xandros, but Ubuuntu is so cute and flashy. And still working :P I’ve been considering installing Ubuntu on my big computer, but I play too much games for it to be worth it. Instead I have this little toy to play and experiment with. There are still quite a few tweaks to be done, the screen is very small and things has to be adjusted to fit. I also need to install some of my favourite programs, which Ubuntu makes a lot easier. There are packages and easy instructions for noobs like me, there weren’t for Xandros.

Ubuntu is a bit slower to start, Firefox can take up to half a minute to react the first time it is started. And there is a noticeable delay when doing changes and tweaks, but I can live with that. If I have an OS that works with me instead of against me, I can stand to wait a bit.

There will be some serious playing done this weekend, for sure!
